Another thing we do is extend the same discounted pricing on parts you may not be able to fit in the budget when you order.  That will save you in the future.

But… there is a reason I only go every other year or so, and it is a good one… it’s called burnout.  Yes, Burnout.

There is another phenomenon that takes place at NAB… it’s called Spendophilia… the act of spending because of the overall dark force that surrounds the show floor:)  Yes all those people with all that beautiful STUFF in their booths… it is just too much to take… you have to spend!

In all I like to go, but I hate the stay in a Las Vegas hotel… too much time spent getting too and from what I’m there for.  I always look to stay off the strip area and just rent or plan on taxi to the nearest rail to the convention center.  From there it all takes care of itself.  A 120$ for taxis vs renting, parking repeat, repeat and then returning the thing…

You see… Burnout.

We have changed over all of our lighting in our kits and studio to LED in the last 6 months.  I sold quite a few fixtures etc and was able to not really spend any additional money. IMHO it has been great!

for those of us who use our lighting regularly, the advent of LED has made lighting a much easier task. The low-power consumption and almost endless life to the bulbs make them a great combination. The major thing you have to watch for is products that have a lower quality dimmer which is never good for video.

On the other side of this, I have been testing LED lights in my home the past few months. The results have been really great and I have decided to just start switching over from incandescent as they burn out.

So no matter what LED is here to stay and there are so many uses there is no way that I could even begin to cover them in a small post.

so we decided to go ahead and give it a try.  After a few minutes online watching a couple of videos, we made out our own list of items. We are lucky enough to have a Lowe’s five minutes away, so off we went. 50 bucks or so later we were on our way back…  on a mission.

With some  quick carpentry that would make any beaver Brown, we hacked a 5 foot jib together.   It was a lot easier than we thought and things went quickly, so I encourage everyone to do it.   Or, you can buy one here  for $129.99   overall there’s really no way to tell if not much more expensive jib.   after about 10 minutes of practice we determined you must have an adjustable ball had to put on the end.   other than that we really couldn’t be happier, well we are happy that we didn’t spend 500 bucks!

Personally I love it!

Now let’s compare this to what RED has done over time…. rumors, rumors etc. but then delays etc…. I just grew sick of it all quickly.  I think it says alot about a company too when they take this approach… now there is no build up to have to live up to!

Can’t wait to check this one out….
